About the Entrepreneurial Readiness Assessment
The Entrepreneurial Readiness Assessment is a free, 25-question self-evaluation that helps working professionals decide whether they are genuinely ready to leave a salaried job and start a business. Rather than a yes/no answer, it scores you out of 125 across the five dimensions that actually determine whether an exit succeeds. It takes about five minutes.
The 5 dimensions it measures
- Financial readiness — savings runway, true monthly burn rate, debt load, and the hidden costs of running a business.
- Skill readiness — whether you have a skill people pay for, have sold to non-friends, and can deliver work independently.
- Emotional readiness — tolerance for uncertainty, resilience to rejection, self-motivation, and your support system.
- Idea readiness — whether you have a specific, validated idea, known potential customers, and a clear differentiator.
- Family readiness — partner support, a shared understanding of the financial trade-offs, and an agreed Plan B.
How your score is interpreted
- 100–125 — You're ready. Financial security, a validated idea, and family support are in place. Build your transition plan.
- 75–99 — You're getting there. Usually a financial or idea gap remains. Don't quit yet, but you're close.
- 50–74 — Not ready yet. Stay employed, build runway, validate the idea, and bring your family on board.
- 0–49 — Pause and reflect. This means "not now," not "never." Reassess in about six months.
Frequently asked questions
Readiness is not a gut feeling. This assessment scores you across five dimensions — financial, skill, emotional, idea, and family — and flags the specific areas to fix before you leave. A score of 100 or more out of 125 indicates a strong position; below 75 means there is preparation still to do.
